Circuit, Criminal, and General Sessions matters generally route through the Smith County Circuit Court Clerk. For Circuit, Criminal, General Sessions, citation, fee, and court-date questions, contact Smith County Circuit Court Clerk Tommy Turner, 322 Justice Drive, Suite 115, Carthage, TN 37030, at (615) 735-0500. The office lists Monday through Friday hours of 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

  • Chancery or Probate: contact Clerk and Master Jessie Goad, Suite 105 at the same Justice Drive address, (615) 735-2092, Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
  • A known county docket date: check the county-linked SC COURT DOCKETS folder, then confirm changes with the Circuit Court Clerk.
  • Carthage City Court: call the city court route at (615) 735-2525 and verify the current clerk assignment.
  • South Carthage City Court: call city hall at (615) 735-2727 because official clerk listings conflict.
  • Gordonsville Municipal Court: use the city administration page and verify the current clerk; the city lists (615) 683-6088 for its card-payment route.

State the court or division, approximate date, case or citation number if known, document type, and whether inspection, a plain copy, or a certified copy is needed. Smith County's reviewed pages did not publish a complete current copy or certification fee schedule, so ask the custodian for the amount before ordering.
